Hmmm, what to tell you about myself? I have been taking pictures for as long as I can remember with whatever camera my parents let me get my hands on. Steve at the Jewel/Osco photo counter definitely had grounds to file a restraining order for the amount of times I would “just check in” on my disposable camera drop-offs.
I was always that girl who shoved her camera in everyone’s faces and who photo-documented her and everyone around her’s every life experience. (Email me for photo documentation of getting my braces put on…Seriously. So pretty. A face only a mother could love. Well, at least she told me she did).
After I left the Walgreens photo counter, I graduated from Miami University (Ohio) in ’04 and received a Master’s Degree in Digital Journalism from Chicago’s Depaul University in ’09.
As a journalist, I have always been very interested in the stories that photographs have told throughout the years. The raw emotion, the truth, the comfort, the beauty, the chaos. All of it.
When my dear grandmother passed away six years ago, I sat with my grandfather looking through endless boxes and albums of old photographs that spanned their entire 62-year marriage. The smiles, the tears, their life together and our family’s legacy captured in small 4x6s. I decided at that moment to start a small, freelance photography company so I might help provide people with boxes full of beautiful, or at times not so beautiful, but true memories.
I shoot almost exclusively in natural light and specialize in children & family photography with a few pets, lovers & events thrown into the mix. My style is simple, fun & unposed.
Thank you for taking the time to check out my site and I look forward to meeting you & the ones you love. If you are Steve from the Palos Park Osco circa 1996, your shoot is on me.
